Just tuned into Vanc’s stream with a mod where they’re talking about group chucking being against the rules. I missed the first part, but it’s kind of clear that Vanc’s argument is more clear; it’s authentic.
I’ve talked with mods like Clint and Emily and understand how hard it is to moderate the game, but that doesn’t justify the (inauthentic) rule on its own.
Vanc: Group chucking was allowed in 2004
Pazaz: Mod team had integrity decision to maintain integrity. Mod team wanted to get ahead of the potential abuse by putting rule in early
My opinion: Pazaz I love you, but it’s not a strong point
Abyss: We would prefer you take it away if it becomes an issue
Pazaz: There are people RWTing; any method they can find, they will. People will complain if we take it away
My opinion: Pazaz seems to get a lot of complaints when things change. Discussion has shifted to the semantic of “ban now or ban later when RWT uses it”
Pazaz: Get everyone’s feedback, we’ll see what we can do. Rule doesn’t have to stay
Vanc: Shoutout to mods, we appreciate your time keeping the game integrity <3
Pazaz: Maybe we’ll open a world with no rules
personally i think it’s just another aspect of Clanmanmode, but it’s true that it can be a loophole for RWT. I think it’s best for the integrity of the game to see it banned. I don’t think many people would be disappointed by this decision. It’s a very small % of players who would even be affected by it anyways
Abyss: If you have a 10v10 group chuck and the leader throws to RWT, everyone is going to call that out
Vanc: There’s too many logistical hoops for RWT over Duel Arena to work
My opinion: This argument makes sense at 10v10 but what about when one guy does a 2v1 vs SomeRando?
(Paraphrasing because this next quote was amazing)
Abyss: Just because some people float through life like butterflies doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fight for what we want to do
Vanc: It’s not about me it’s about content
Abyss (?): Duel arena was one of the reasons I came to this game
My opinion: Yeah. People want more players; idc personally as long as we have >10 online, but some people want to see new players come in. Duel arena does get views on TikTok/YT/Kick/etc
yeah, clanning and affiliated strategies are legitimate methods of getting ahead in the game, so it shouldn’t be banned on that basis.
I’m thinking to how unofficial gambling was banned. That was a good decision as it could also provide methods for RWT and scamming. This issue is similar I believe, and banning it would prevent future headaches for the moderation team, as well as get more people in favor of Duel Arena. Before it got shut down in OSRS so many people loathed DA and this aspect was just one of the reasons why.
Duel Arena culture is interesting though because it evolved into almost a completely separate aspect from the main game.
I mean make your mind up, you either want authenticity or you don’t. But if we ban it, let’s unban multi logging since that was never enforced either.
I’m fine with everything being authentic, but the second we start picking one thing to change because “integrity” the whole plot turns to shit. Then another thing, then another thing, then we’re OSRS.
Make your minds up.
I also say this as somebody that hates clans, clanmanmode and all the dorks high ranked on the highscores because they have a clan with them… but authentic is authentic.
Counterpoint, I want the game to be authentic, not the lack of moderation. If we’re gonna let people break rules “for the content” then why have any rules for streamers at all? Just let em change the code on their own if they’re so important the rules shouldn’t apply to them.
But we all know how celebrity and favouritism works so I’m not holding my breath.
Why do you think they did not enforce multiple logging? Do you not think they profited from memberships of 2 accounts? Here there is not that incentive. They do not profit. And multilogging adds an unneeded strain on the server. Also there were far more worlds back then as well. And a player population that boomed far greater then they were expecting. And they struggled so much they brought in player mods to help fill in those spots to remove strain off their system.
I think as long as you could stake 1v1 the game is fine.
I can see why they made group stake bannable since what if 10 players wanna sell gold to 1 buyer 10 players would give all the gold to 1 guy on a worse account with less stats make sure the buyer attacks 1st by not attacking having auto retaliate on starting with lower hp before the duel since when you start a duel you don’t go back to full hp and I’m sure there’s more ways i can’t think of to make sure you lose.
We have the dual arena you can stake if other players wanna stake then level up it is what it is.
I mean idc if they have group staking or not I’m just saying i can see how it could be used for some big rwt with a lot of players in one go.
Whether or NOT he agrees with it how you just gonna blatantly break the rules that states it.
Just cause he’s a streamer he shouldn’t get privledges. Dudes lowkey been a bad look for the game already and this made it worse. He’s very unprofessional, his first interview with Pazaz was lowkey embarrassing I felt like Pazaz was being interviewed by a 12 year old.
Idk . I get he brings viewership but he’s the type of content creator who only the people playing the game watch cause he’s known. Any new viewer will look at him the same way they look at most rsps streamers and just click off.
Leave it to the big guys like Abyss and Mudkip you already have the trust worthy people you need. If this guy is blatantly breaking rules cause he doesn’t agree with them because they were authentic to 04 rather then what the rules clearly state he deserves to be punished like anyone else. Yall don’t need him for publicity. He’s hurting it.
I think that’s a valid opinion to have but I don’t see what it has to do with whether clan staking should be against the rules or not (unless you’re suggesting we should have rules that get rid of people like Vanc?)
You might of missed the part where he was on stream was taking trades from other to stake with. Which is against the rules I’m pretty sure that’s where all this started.
He’s trying to argue why to justify his actions.
If multi logging is instant perm ban on both accounts idk how this is not.
I think we should be asking ourselves 3 questions here before even putting out the idea that he is getting a “free ticket”.
Was there any harm done in regards to the spirit of the rule? The answer to this is no.
Did the streamer know about this when doing it? There is nothing that points to there being intent when it comes to breaking the rules.
One might argue this is giving the streamer an unfair advantage and where I would agree that is true, I also think it is fine for mods to use all evidence that they have when making decisions and his stream isn’t short of a form of evidence. He certainly wouldn’t have done this on a live stream if he knew.
Were these rules even in place when he did it? The rules were last updated on the 11th. I’m wondering if these rules were even there or not at that time that he did it.
