does training melee/range give a chance at rares?

I’ve been darting blue dragons for abt 7 hrs now? nothing yet.
Been mashing other actions in between.
No luck though.
I don’t know if it’s my imagination but random events seem to have a slight bit of jank to them when they spawn at the moment, so maybe the rare thing is like a random event that procs so high actions / high exp rates perhaps trigger the chance as if it were a random.
That’s just my theory though, no proof.
Honestly time will tell. There has not been much rares yet, but as far as I understood; you can get it with anything which involves xp drops.
I’m unsure personally, I’m close to having fletched 5000 yew longs and nearly alched the same? Not even a sniff. Has to be one of the most click intensive actions in the game? Yet still nothing.
A guy got one from killing a guard with melee, and a guy got one from picking flax which gives no xp. So it does seem like ANY action may have a possibility. However, it is EXTREMELY rare to get anything.
If anything it just stops me playing as much over a weekend. Going a full weekend without anything, just seems like a waste of a weekend for me from doing IRL things. Yes I’m a British player and we do love a good moan… haha

But, the real question, does standing at a bank and chatting count? I mean, actual bank standing…

You simply can’t expect to get a rare. It’s like expecting to get 3a from a few clues. If they were common enough that everyone who played a lot over one weekend got one, they would not be rare.
Maybe? Maybe not. Maybe my total level is too low (730). However I have more XP than some of the top players on here over only a few skills so 
Like I said it’s just a bit disheartening putting so many hours into the game in a couple of short months. Be nice to get something back that’s for sure. Rather than grind out and become a hermit every weekend and end up with nothing.

I hear you bro.
Even if I do hit something at this point I still won’t be happy because everyone else on their 20 hour session didn’t hit, and I know they’re suffering chasing it.
It’s like a gamblers psychology too: “I’ve already invested this much time… I HAVE to hit soon!”
A lot of people with your view have come under fire as “ungrateful” or “complaining” but the reality is a lot of people are going to session for way longer then they should during this, and a lot are going to walk away with a salty taste in their mouth too.
Imagine being a player that shows up every weekend and puts in a lot of hours and never hits anything at all? It’s going to happen to someone for sure lol.

I’m glad you can see where I am coming from. I have a life outside of this with two kids and a wife, do I really want to be giving up my weekend and missing out on whatever in the “hope” to hit a rare? When in reality I could play all weekend and come out dry. It’s a great server regardless just my opinion on it that’s all

You guys are just describing RNG lol. If you don’t enjoy it, don’t stress about it. Just play the game. I always thought RNG goals are not fun, but that’s pretty much all OSRS is at this point and tons of people love it.
We’re talking about peoples lives, not RNG.
Empathy is a simple thing to understand if you have it, but some people genuinely don’t have it :')

These rares are the equivalent of getting a pet on OSRS. You should go into it understanding that the chance of obtaining it is incredibly rare and unlikely. Just play the game and achieve your goals. If you don’t get one, oh well. If you do get one, you’re incredibly lucky and that’s awesome.
It’s not that deep, bro. This isn’t a life or death situation.

You’re right mate. It’s not that deep and it’s not life and death! I am just having my opinion which I am entitled too as you are also.
Having spent multiple hours in game day after day, week after week. It would be nice to get a little something back. I’m not a young player so having to give up weekends to be in with a chance of getting something and then getting naff all is a right kick in the teeth!
As I said before, great server regardless. Enjoyed playing 04 and taking me back to my younger days.

A lot of people here will try to shut you down even when what you’re saying is completely logical
It’s not like I’m calling for change either - things are the way they are, but I can certainly EMPATHIZE with your feelings and NOT ATTACK you for your view.
A lot of people here fail to understand this, and it’s another way a community does shut down
People still want to express themselves, it’s not about forcing the other party to change.
Where as you have the other side that’s like “UHHH HE DOESN’T THINK EXACTLY HOW I THINK? REPEAT THE SAME POINT AT HIM 10 TIMES, SUMMON THE CLAN TO HARASS HIM!”
I got head hunted for months for my views on Old Journal, and low and behold… NOT AUTHENTIC, and already irrepairbly changed the face of the server forever (People made a years progress in 3 months, those who come after will never have that benefit)
Point is, whenever you put anything at all forward here, expect to come under attack for it lol.
I’m really grateful to the devs for fixing journal for what that’s worth.
