I’m writing this to share my recent experience with 2004Scape Lost City in the hopes of warning others who may be in a similar situation.
Recently, I was permanently banned for allegedly breaking the multi-logging rule. The truth is, I was simply playing alongside my brother. We live in the same household and each had our own account, our own device, and played completely independently. Before he even started playing, I reached out in the Discord to ask if this setup would be an issue, and received no warning or objection.
Despite that, my account was banned. I submitted an appeal explaining the situation honestly, even offering video evidence—a Snapchat I had sent to a friend showing both of us playing side by side—to prove we weren’t multi-logging. Unfortunately, the response I received was a flat rejection, with the note that “Further appeals won’t be considered.”
I understand the need for rules, but this blanket enforcement without fair review or communication punishes legitimate players. I’ve supported the server, encouraged others to join, and played by the rules. It’s extremely disheartening to be treated this way.
I’m sharing this not just out of frustration, but to warn others: if you’re playing with a family member or roommate, you may be at risk—even if you follow all the rules and try to be transparent. Please be cautious, and consider this when investing your time.
To the moderators: I’m still willing to provide the video if anyone wants to look into this with an open mind.
I’ve talked to mods about these false ban allegations in private, and basically their answer is “the people making these posts are lying” (examples: AHK Bans too harsh? - #20 by Ohrami). I guess you could upload the video to the forums regardless and see what they say?
hey was this resolved? my buddy told me this happened to him and his brother. my little brother and i play frequently. is there a way to prove separate pcs? like maybe MAC addresses or something are different even though we’re on the same IP? just trying to be proactive instead of reactive in case somethin happened. id be devastated
MAC addresses are not visible by the time the packet reaches the server. Those are just for your local ethernet routing. To my knowledge there is no way to prove with network details that you are on separate computers when you’re behind a NAT like most home networks, but even if you could, it wouldn’t matter: multilogging with multiple PCs is possible and against the rules.
I can only imagine they are doing some sort of analysis on the timing of traffic from the same IP and banning ones that look like a single player using multiple accounts versus two people playing at the same time, or they’re looking at the play hours for suspicious overlaps. It would have to be some kind of heuristic thing like that, I think. Or they could just be assuming it’s multilogging if both characters are registered to the same Discord account, but that can’t possibly be the only variable.
I mean, even if you had video evidence that you and a housemate were playing at the same time, that still is not conclusive evidence that you were not multilogging at some different time. You would need to record basically all gameplay to really prove it for certain.
What about nanosecond actions? If you do one action, then another action on another client nanoseconds later, then a different action on the first client, and do this repeatedly, that seems easy to see over-time vs completely-random timestamps between two distinct players.
While i do agree with this,
This wasn’t the case for myself and my brother and unfortunately it has cost them a player because my brother has refused to play this server again.
As for me i have started a new account. I dont feel comfortable dealing with the Moderators any further due to said Moderator who commented above “Trolling” and i dont see a reason to bother trying to appeal further with Moderators that display such un-professionalism.
It’s pretty disappointing to see the response i was given by Staff and the lack of empathy and willingness to investigate further. They also didn’t provide any evidence as to why they had banned me in the first place.
Could be a contribution to the reason this servers playerbase has more then halved in the last 2 weeks
We’re volunteers, not professionals. One tiny joke is not going to hurt you.
While we’re under no obligation to provide evidence for bans, I did display willingness to investigate further when I offered to take a look at your video. I have not received anything yet.
How convenient that your brother already quit. At least that means you won’t have this same issue on your new account.
The forum is not the place for discussing punishments or appealing bans. Please use the support centre.
