RSC Sundae & Perfect - As Close As It Gets?

RSC Sundae is an open source remake of the original RuneScape Server and Runescript API, using only data sources and packet captures from the original server.

It’s the most accurate replica of RSC ever made, and the only one that accurately models NPC behaviour, among many other behaviours.

A webclient (native compiled webassembly), android client, and desktop clients are available. These are native for each platform and utilize the ultra-lightweight RSC-C remake rather than relying on Java.

RSC Perfect is the live hosted version of Sundae which implements all RuneScape Classic content up to the final F2P-only version (10th December 2001) with mechanical and bug fixes from later versions. It contains no modifications to the original content. However, the following extra features are available in Perfect:

  • Selectable 1x or 4x XP rate
  • Official self-sufficient (“ironman”) and no-banking (“ultimate ironman”) modes
  • Extra hiscores for e.g. PKing, lowest level Dragon Slayers

What differences are there in Sundae compared to OpenRSC in terms of accuracy? To my knowledge, OpenRSC is also based on data capture from real RSC.

OpenRSC is based on code from legacy private servers that weren’t caring about accuracy. For new code (mainly quests), it’s pretty accurate, but the old code is really quite bad. For example, NPC handling doesn’t match how real RSC behaves and is mostly entirely made up.
