I’d love to open a thoughtful conversation about the current rules restricting GP transfers between accounts, especially for players looking to engage deeply with PvP.
Many of us are here because we love the unique balance of RuneScape 2 — the freedom to specialize, the thrill of PvP, and the satisfaction of building a unique account. But right now, the rules put players in a tough position:
If you build a pure, you lose access to huge parts of the PvM experience.
If you build a main, you’re automatically at a disadvantage in PvP.
For a lot of players, end-game is PvP. And developing specialized builds is half the fun — but under the current rules, doing so requires starting from scratch, with no way to support your build unless you grind every coin independently.
I’m not asking for an open season on muling or account abuse. I’m suggesting a nuanced rule update that allows for reasonable GP transfers between personal alts, specifically to support legitimate gameplay goals like PvP account builds.
This would:
Encourage deeper engagement from players who enjoy both PvM and PvP.
Help preserve the spirit of 2004 RuneScape, where people experimented, shared, and built cool alts without being boxed into one playstyle.
Still maintain safeguards against rule-breaking or economy abuse.
I know the spirit of this server is about authenticity and fair play — I’m completely aligned with that. I just think there’s an opportunity to update this rule in a way that reflects how people actually played back in the day, and allows for more fun, creative, and diverse account progression.
Appreciate your time and hope the community will chime in with their thoughts too.
I actually played back in the day and don’t like the thoughts of players giving their Alt accounts an advantage. Back in the day, you worked with what you had. Regardless of Build. It was a Hellish grind that got us all into it. Just my opinion on it though, I wont reply/argue with a soul on this. Interesting read though.
Imho its a case that cracking the door will swing it wide open. To allow it in one case will only add to the argument for other circumstances. And a big part of being a pure is limiting your account in certain ways. And defeats the purpose. Also keep in mind that this server is set to follow all of the updates that lead up to eoc. That includes trade restrictions and magic short nerf as examples. So i dont see this happening.
I don’t mind how it is. It makes pures a little more novel, similar to how they were 20 years ago. Nowadays in OSRS pures are just as common as mains, if not more, which is pretty bland. The pure-PvM concept won’t really be an issue until DKs are released which is far ahead into the future. KBD is safespotted, pures can help do KQ in groups (it’s meant to be a group boss regardless), barrows is doable, jad is doable.
I agree that there is no world where allowing specific players to do specific instances of muling isn’t effectively going to allow all players to do all types of muling. Any other attempt at doing this will require so much moderator time to determine who is and is not eligible to trade GP that it would likely be unfeasible.
Besides those considerations I also don’t like the idea that every pure made to this point is devalued because if this rule change took place I’d look at every pure as a boosted account.
