Rare release strengthens the preservation project!

Over the next 4 months starting with the game update on July 12, every weekend all online players eligible will have an incredibly rare chance to obtain a random rare pre-RS2 item by doing any action ingame. There will a minimum playtime and level requirement.

Releasing rares into the game according to the post above only strengthens the preservation project. First off by releasing rares in this manner rares will keep their integrity of being rare, tradeable, and only obtainable for a small period of time in game. OSRS really dropped the ball on the method they chose to release rares into the game because of this rares lost their magic of being rare, history was lost, as well as content and goals of grinding to be able to afford a rare.
Secondly by releasing rares in this manner you introduce excitement, encouragement for players to play during this time period, fairness, and you would reward the early player base similar to how they were rewarded in original RuneScape with the introduction of rares.
Finally and perhaps most importantly, for the release of rares to strengthen the preservation project rares must keep their integrity as rare and eventually become discontinued items in a similar way to original RuneScape. Or else we will risk losing an integral part of Runescape history.
