Mods spawning rares is authentic

It would be inauthentic to add back the events that didn’t happen in this revision; but if mods spawned rares by hand and gave them out, it doesn’t break authenticity rules.

Happy Easter!

This is factually incorrect.

The most authentic way to do it would be on easter have them randomly spawn all over the map.

Easter eggs were dropped in 2002, not 2004. Dropping them now would not be authentic to the timeline. Infact, there was no Easter event at all in 2004.

People are so unbelievably thirsty for rares, and I can’t help but think that it has nothing to do with authenticity. They just want a chance to get rich without earning it. To anybody saying you want rares in the game for authenticity reasons, I don’t believe you, for the very fact that you call them “rares” instead of “holiday items”. The important part to you is that they are rare, not that they are usable and/or fun items in the game. You don’t want something fun; you want something rare.

I just want my 2004 yo-yo.

Why not? Because jmod accounts couldn’t trade items? Iirc they could in classic, so unless they changed that in 2004, this is actually the only time it is factually correct

Rares spawning on the map is inauthentic to 2004. But jmods were always able to give them out (they didn’t, but they could have), so that’s the argument I’m making for rare distribution

Authenticity aside, holiday items spawning around the world is fun, even if it’s something untradable. It’s exciting and out of the ordinary.

This I agree with. The important part to me is the holiday events. That’s why I’m suspicious of the people begging for rares.

The mods on here aren’t jmods bro what are you even talking about. Just because they’re named Mod Cringe and Mod LowT doesn’t mean anything.

Your statement may have some validity to it if it was Andrew himself or something, but even then that is pushing it pretty far already.

There is technically no authentic way to introduce these items into the game. Any type of solution is classified as inauthentic. To even claim there is an authentic way is being ignorant for no reason. I think we can all comfortably agree here, and if you don’t agree then you’re just pretty much lying to yourself.

This isn’t to say that I don’t want them, I think they should be in the game, following proper player experience for the time, because the items were available, and like I said above they should be part of the player experience, however as I mention this, 2004Scape has already made headways into pushing inauthentic changes (such as the world hop countdown timer). SO WHY NOT THEN JUST DROP THE PHATS……

Btw I’m trying not to make this a thread about “do we want rares”, but since you keep bringing it up, I just think it would be cool to have some items that don’t increase in frequency over time (dmeds, dsquares, clue items etc will only get more common as the server goes on).

Hey, how’d you know the name of my mod account?!

FYI I was not targeting if that is actually your name, I just went to those names automatically in my brain.

P hats and other rares too were always something people dreamed about in og RS2, they motivated you to become rich, you knew that there was always something to buy, even if you had the best gear already. If this server tries to be as close to the original as it can, then valuable rares are a part of it, like it or not. Rares should be rares, otherwise they become meaningless. Thats my opinion.

What if I want both? anyway it should be added even if I get none it would fix economy and would be more authentic anyway

a little nonauthenticy leads to it being more authentic in the future am I right or am I wrong

The energy of this statement is like when a flat earther talks about traveling “around” the world. I appreciate your reply nonetheless.
