im just sick of people complaining about a FREE passion project that we are all lucky enough to play. read the guy a few posts up… saying its dogshit and the game is dying because he didnt get a rare. its a joke at this point. if youre not having fun then leave lol
I would imagine a part of that is venting out frustrations. Human beings are not robotic, we’re playing video games but some people are more passionate about it than others. I’m sure the majority of people will get over it. Some players are just a bit more passionate and emotional about it than other’s are. It will be okay, and i’m sure Pazaz has enough integrity to weave through the comments are form his own conclusion. It will eventually hit an emotional climax and cool down afterwards.
The next 8 weeks will be a bit of a rollercoaster ride so buckle up lol, but after that I think it will calm down, i hope it does anyways.
You’re in a fortunate situation where you spiked RNG lotto early so you have bit of bias inherently. Understand there will be players grinding out all 16 weekends and receive absolutely nothing, a big fat zero. Than try to put yourself in their shoes, its obviously frustrating.
To tie this back to the thread at hand:
This is why i think they could be VERY slightly more rare’s spawned, Not extreme. Even if it’s just a few more mask’s or eggs or pumpkins, so we have less players leaving the event with absolutely nothing.
An alternative idea could be to just make a constellation prize. Everyone that grinded it out and didn’t get jack, at least they get some other random item like the bunny ears except make it rabbit ears or something. I don’t know use your imagination.

Personally I’ve always loved the rare aspect of RS, I’ve collected them since 2005 and in my opinion they’re a big part of the secret sauce that gave the game the longevity that it has.
I would like rares to be more common on this server, 100%. I’d like for dedicated collectors to be able to get a full phat set or an invy worth of santas and masks. You could do that reasonably in early RS2 but it will be impossible to do via legitimate means on this server.
At the same time though, Coneman is right that it’s completely off base to insult the dev team over this. We should all be grateful that they’re bringing us 99% of this game faithfully and for free. Disagree with them over that remaining 1% all you want but do it with class.

I also feel I have failed in my discussions personally to do this also. I am admittedly not much of a kiss up.
We should all take the time to appreciate and say HUGE DUB for Pazaz the Legend and the entire Lost city team all the Dev’s and all the staff. Absolute Legends!

I’m OK with edibles being more common, and maybe both disk of returning and santas to a lesser extent, but masks/phats/crackers should be extra rare. MAYBE even make the crackers more rare than the masks/phats - though this becomes less of an issue as people continue to crack them open.

Honestly a lot of guys get ahead with girls for being good liars and manipulators… I would not call that “objectively better”, either. Not that I really blame people for playing the circus, but his comparison is not good. Frankly.
Back to the subject of rares, now… there’s two considerations depending on whether we get one undesirable scenario or another:

Undesirable scenario #1: Not enough rares are dropped and the community incessantly complains for a second rares event. It becomes so out of control that even the mods begin supporting one, somewhere down the line. I believe we don’t even want to have a sentiment of a second rares event. Above all else, we do want this to be final. Given this fact, I do believe it is better to err on the side of “let’s release a bit more rares” rather than “let’s keep it restrictive just in case we hand out too many.” Also, if anyone is optimistic about this server eventually growing, they would also want to support more rares rather than less, as the discrepancy between active players and available rares would just be growing further at that point, even holding all else equal.

Undesirable scenario #2: Too many rares are dropped and the prices remain rather low for an extended period of time. This might not be great but I believe it is better than the first undesirable scenario because it eliminates any (serious) suggestion of ever having a second rares event. The only way this scenario persists is if the server dwindles in player count even as it progresses to 2005 and pretty much dies. That’s a loss anyway.
So yes, since I believe Undesirable Scenario #1 > Undesirable Scenario #2 in severity in terms of harm to the server, I would support an increase in the amount of rares.

Nah, I’m definitely married because I’m a better person than anyone who hasn’t found their ideal partner yet, no element of luck at all.
Other than that I think you’re spot on regarding rares. A little too common now just feels like the sensible thing if you’re optimistic about the future of this project, as I am. I’d take being priced out of the market forever over re-release though.
lock this thread 99% of posts are off topic whining that either partyhat owners want to make more money or people just want to make rares common. If its not that they are shitting on the dev team

The way the rares are put in are pretty close to the same idea back in the day. Back then random npcs dropped them or they spawned at random locations for a set time.
This idea atm is pretty close to that. There isnt a way to make it anymore close to the same idea without ppl abusing the method. We were kids when we did this now were adults who are alot smarter obviously pazaz isnt gonna add rares to make it easy for us to abuse farm them. Grow up stop crying and enjoy the game for wat it was…and if u were born after the year 2000 u were 1-4 yrs old when the game was out and im sure u had no idea how it (really was) back in the day so u dont got a right to choose how the mods input the rares… ppl are impatient and cant w8. Let the progress flow and enjoy the long grinds. Noone wants ezscape and if u quit 5 more ppl will join. There’s tons of ppl playing daily all day and all night and most of the high lvl community isnt crying over rares even the ones without some.
How would it be any authentic if every single person had a rare. Rares were rare cause they discontinued overtime…which will happen after the 4 month event is over.
If u think u got a better way to do it . make ur own server or explain how u would do it much better without adding loop holes/ezscape (or child like lash outs and insults). this isnt a custom p server its suppose to be preservation.
When barrows and d chain come out i bet there’s gonna be 50+ post about ppl crying the drop rate is to high even tho they did only 1-40 kc…
someone doin only 100 barrows chest is gonna cry they cant get a piece. It’s never ending… if you’re really here for the real feel of the good ol days let shit come when it does and continue ur grind. It’s not that deep its not hard to comprehend but u no ull get the (i aint reading all that) type comments. It takes 30s to read and u read all day and night dont choose when to be childish most of us are adults. No need for tiktok brain or sketch bag junkies to cry over a game they never even played as kids. Most of the high lvl (grown ups) are pretty mature and u can easily point out the ones that arent… but again u no how sensitive some ppl get. Rares arent suppose to be bought or merched right away. We didnt even have that idea until they become rare but since we already know this ppl wanna rush things.
As more updates come more $ will come into the game making the rares easier to buy and also for ppl to buy the rare they want if they dont loot one themselves. It’s not easy for everyone to make GP atm cause there is limited things to do so they whine that rares are to high. We can set the price to whatever we feel as a community just like any other item and nothing will be good enough for the ungrateful but the rest of us (most 60%+) will continue to grind while ppl quit and crash out.
Unf… it happens and nothing will change that. This isnt targeted at anyone or made to be flame its just my opinion diff is i speak my mind. Anyways goodluck this weekend everyone! hope u get the rare u dream for. tbow out
