I’m Vanc, and I’m excited to announce that we’ll be interviewing the creator of the 2004 Scape, Pazaz, on February 23rd at 12 PM PST. I’ll be streaming the interview live on my Kick channel (link below). If you’ve got any questions for the legend himself, Pazaz, feel free to drop them in the comments! He’s given us the green light to ask anything you want to know as a community.
Once the game has achieved your final intended game-state, do you plan to continue to add QoL updates that supersedes the final revision of the game? Example Scenario, you end updating at Godwars Release. Post Godwars there were updates like npc’s to decant your 1 dose potions into 4 dose potions. Do you intend to add QoL items such as this after the final game update?
Secondly, How will you determine what QoL updates get added and don’t get added? Will there be a poll system? Randomly emailed surveys? etc.
Furthermore, Runescapes default economy sinks are not enough to sustain a reasonable economic structure for a long period of time. What efforts/updates will you put in place to allow the game to have a more effective item AND gold sink? Or do you intend to utilize the same strategies employed in past, current, and future methods of item/gold sinks pre & post final game state?
Do you think you will attempt to restore any other games? If you don’t have any ideas do you think you would like to try restoring old pinball machines?
Can you tell us more about the development process? What was your inspiration for starting this project? Why did you choose JS instead of a more traditional Java? What content was unexpectantly difficult to implement?
Hoping to see a healthy gap between KQ and Barrows - I feel like the original 04 never got a chance for anyone to really push in that meta - any plan to let us farm this? Also maybe a communicated rough timeline between barrows and slayer, if they intend on giving us some 05 content
One of the coolest parts of lost city is the opportunity for people to host their own custom servers.
Do you or any of the other devs plan on making tutorials for creating custom content? What kind of content would you like to see people make in the future?
Do you plan on maintaining the same banning process you currently have which is perm ban people for breaking the rules? Back in 2004 there was a strike system in place so people didn’t lose all the hours of progress they made on an account because of a mistake they made.
What was your own experience playing RuneScape 2 back in the day? What is it about RuneScape that has made it so important to you that you are pursuing such a big project as this?
Do you regret hosting the game as it became much bigger than expected? Would you rather have it that someone else hosted it so you could focus on coding?
