Did the KBD safe spot get patched?

I was trying to use the KBD safespot and noticed the dragon wasnt pathing towards me at all therefore couldnt get it in the safepsot.

no bro i just watched ppl doing it yesterday. you prob need to tank a hit to get him in the right spot if hes not playing right.

Probably doing it wrong. There are multiple safe spots.

If you mess up you need to reset it by running west of pillar and trying again.

Bro ive done KBD hundreds of times but as of today he isnt aggroing towards me for same reason, he stands still wthout attacking and when i attack and move he stops moving

I need confirmation from as of today. Not sure how old that picture is.

the last update was 2 weeks ago bro

Could try hopping worlds, maybe his script is busted on one world but not the others

One option could be exporting your save to a local server and trying it (pretty easy with quickstart.bat and Java).

I never did KBD but could probably look up safespots (is there a vid of a specific spot?); if you export/upload your save standing next to it, I could try?

Turns out this was the case, KBD script was not working on one specific world.

Could that be fixed by killing it and it respawning? Or would that need a server restart?

Checked on local and it works just fine. I don’t really see how its possible for only king black dragon to be busted on that world. If kbd is broken then so is a bunch of other monsters

I have seen multiple cases of quests getting bugged only on certain worlds. Sometimes bugs are subtle and can only be triggered by specific sequences of events and will not be seen when freshly starting up a server.

This is why I think the server should be automatically scheduled to be reset 1 time a week even if there are no updates. I know this server is programmed significantly better but even back when I was admin on servers back in the day we made sure to reset every few days because problems would arise.

That would fix some issues but is ultimately a band-aid fix. I think it would be better to leave it running so that someone can look into it while it’s happening and fix the underlying bug.

What if the bug causing server instability over-time is authentic, along with Jagex doing weekly restarts to workaround it? :stuck_out_tongue:

Ive actually also had weird instances of where a blue dragon doesn’t path towards me when I attack it.

The dragon stands completely still and does not move after I stop attacking, like it should. So there was also that instance, very strange.

let me tell you, ive killed thousands of blue dragons before, so im very familiar with what normal npc mechanics should look like.

I think that happens when you attack monsters from outside their range, authentic to the current version as far as I’m aware.

It might even be something that’s fixed as of June 28 2004, but I can’t confirm

I think there’s something wrong with npc deletion in the engine. The blocking isn’t always cleared for some reason
