This is also ridiculous. It’s the same thing. You are digging your hole even deeper by splitting these hairs with me. No! Stop it!
This is a pedantic and bad-faith response to what I said. You are focusing in on a single word choice that has nothing to do with my salient point. Reasonable and unreasonable people are just as likely to fail at reading comprehension when confronted by the monstrous walls of text you’d present them with!
No. That’s not the way we’re doing things. We’re not playing cat-and-mouse for eternity with the macroing rules. You would task us with a neverending game of catch-up solely to satisfy your own pedantry.
Yes there is. And every post you make proves it further.
Your “entire” critique was NOT that, why are you lying? I skimmed your massive critique when the rule was more descriptive and I won’t do you the disservice of pretending I read and fully parsed it because it seemed to be arguing to defend a viewpoint that I find indefensible.
The devs have introduced an ignore feature since our last interaction (thank you devs) so I’m gonna go ahead and use it now. Feel free to reply or not.
No leaks! He shared his script as part of the appeal process. Which was nice of him. Points for honesty. But reading it confirmed what we already knew – that it was not a compliant script
Quite frankly, I don’t care what happens within the community, I’m here to support the development team in achieving their correctness / accuracy goal.
The flaw with that response is I was banned before I showed you the script and yes I code but tracking peoples clicks, mouse speed wouldn’t give you any type of info even related to that so you basically just admitted the staff are going around handing out false bans off guess work.
And this whole thread has gone 100 percent off topic this was not a ban appeal or anything related to it the point of this thread was that permanent bans for a major rule that was semi silently changed a few days ago and banning that amount of people was overkill I know a broke a rule that isn’t the issue anymore but should me and the other 99 people really lose months of work off something basically harmless and the fact that we didn’t even know we was breaking a rule to begin with? If you guys gave out two days bans or even a week ban the community would get the point, quit using it as word would spread it’s not allowed.
This is false, I’m not sure where you got this from. It is easy to see when people are using bots, and it was not necessary to know precisely what your script was doing in order to know that it was breaking the rules.
Like I said, seeing your script only confirmed what we already knew for certain prior to applying the ban. No guesswork was involved.
100 people in one day seems like an exaggeration… but as things stand now? Yes.
Macroing is a one-strike offence. I understand it’s brutal but that’s the way things are right now. We don’t really have the time or inclination to process stat resets, bank wipes, and macroing minor bans like Jagex would have done in the past.
By cheating at the game, you become a burden on Lost City and the staff team. Other players report you and we have to deal with those reports.
We are a free, open-source passion project and owe no particular obligations to the players. It’s nothing personal, it’s just ultimately easier for the preservation effort this way.
I would go so far as to say that banned accounts have actually not lost any progress at all. You are free to export your player save data from the website at any time. You may import it elsewhere, or even host your own servers with your own ruleset.
Can you make a new character or does it do some sort of IP ban?
I suggest just doing a different character build or focusing on different things to make up the lost work, and then returning to what you did originally later on.
One strike offence for macro is extremely harsh. I think macro minor bans not existing will hurt the game in the long run. There’s a massive difference between botting for 2 weeks and botting for an hour or two.
On another note, thanks for the work you do though, it’s appreciated by the majority of the player base.
Everyone (I imagine) has to know that using automation tools in a video game gives unfair advantages over others not using automation, and that such tools are generally not allowed.
It sounds like the bike meme; if you know macroing is ban-worthy, why do it?
No offence, but are you reading things correctly? I literally said there is a difference between botting for one day and 3 weeks… Nobody can go from 1 to 98 in 2-3 days botting, what is your point? I think some people need to improve their reading comprehension and stop posting based on emotion.
If you cheat in any form or fashion you deserve a ban, period. This server is meant to be for people who REALLY enjoy the “good ole’ days”, and if you’re going to ruin a nostalgic experience by cheating like you have anything to gain from this (you don’t), then you deserve to be banned.
