32 Bit Client for 2004scape

I’m sure this would be pretty low on the priority list, but I am a fan of vintage computing and have several old computers from the windows xp days. It would be so cool if there was a 32 bit version so that the full vintage runescape experience could be had.

I’ve tried using it through the browser, but I can’t seem to get it to work, even with some updated browsers like Mypal and fairly new versions of firefox. The most likely browser to work is a Chromium-based browser for xp called supermium, but I’ve been having trouble getting it working and it would be a bit slow.

Anyway, just thought I’d throw this out there in case anyone was interested. I’ve heard x86 programming can be tougher than x64 these days. I’m not a dev myself so maybe that’s incorrect, I’m just a regular old tinkerer, haha.

Thanks and God bless!
P.S. Thanks so much to the developers here for what they’ve already done, it’s amazing!

The refactored Java client should work great on old operating systems.

The issue with this is that you will not be able to connect it to the live game. Java support was dropped from the official servers for security reasons.

You can still use it to connect to a local server however!

ah, I gotcha, that’s one thing that hinders getting these old computers online for sure, things like ancient ssl stuff and so on. Hadn’t thought about it from that angle.

thanks for mentioning the refactored client, I’ll check it out.
