The problem with 2009 scape is that you are auto enrolled in the only guild there. And they have been there a while so they don’t pay much if any attention to a new player on the server. It’s a bad as RS3 with the give away xp.
Bottom line is they are all clique and not really looking to add any to themselves. If you want to play solo then that’s the place to go.
Zero percent chance. In fact I’m surprised Lost City didn’t go AGPL as well.
(FWIW; MIT means people can copy the code to make private servers and not share their code back. AGPL means if you use the code, you also have to be open source)
Very low population. And no economy. Gave it a try. Had high hopes. Sadly it needs work and players. I struggled to get the client sized to see what was going on and never was satisfied with it. Wish them luck and hope things change and improve.
I contributed hundreds of hours to 2009scape, but looking at my source from 2024 and the latest source as of today, my name has been removed from the credits of many files that I personally created.
Perhaps you can explain why people should contribute to and/or play 2009scape, given that the devs seem to lack morals?

First, you must have been one of the OGs contributing, so thank you .
What name were you using back then? For context, over the last 4-5 years most of the server has been rewritten into Kotlin, so it’s very possible your name wasn’t ported (assuming it was in a comment).
For context, the original codebase lives here, and you can see the contributors before the move to Gitlab here
