Hi, just something i wanted to share having experienced again what it was real runescape was back then i can’t go back to OSRS anymore, i tried to login on OSRS today and it felt like i’ve logged in into a custom 2007 private server, maybe it is just me. That said i’ve been feeling a bit burned out from 2004scape and i think ima take a break while waiting for new updates, u feel the same?
I’m not burnt out, but I am getting pretty bored. We really need some updates! Honestly, this is the one big flaw with this server—the update rollout pace is just too slow. It feels like the game’s gotten stale. We’ve all figured out the meta, the grind is straightforward now, and the mystery that made the early days so fun is gone.
It doesn’t feel like that fresh 2004 experience anymore—more like we’re just running through the motions in a well-mapped-out world. To keep people engaged (and hopefully stop the drop in player count), I really think the server needs to kick things up a gear or two when it comes to updates.
Play OSRS or “2004scape Leagues” ([ALPHA] 2004Scape "Leagues" Community Server - #91 by borig) on the side while you do some gathering skills - I’ve collected nearly 8k ess and I’m having a great time.
But to answer the title, yea OSRS is kinda lame now. I’ve felt that way for a while, with how devalued every achievement and item is
Meh I’ll be back on OSRS/RS3 eventually; I’m HCIM both (btw ), 1500+ total levels, and have plenty of content to first-time do! (I haven’t done KBD nor Fire Cape)
I find that while Kourend and Varlemore are probably good content for current OSRS players they have little by little shifted the meta so much that even earlygame OSRS looks nothing like RS2 anymore. I got back into it for a while and got my quest cape (finally) sometime after Dragon Slayer II dropped but it feels like since then more and more of the nostalgia for the 2007 era has been destroyed in that game. I will say I spent a year or 2 casually playing a f2p only ironman on OSRS and that was a much more nostalgic experience, with some new stuff too of course.
RS3 to me was a dead game long before launch and though I’ve tried to play it a few times Ive never stuck around for more than a week. Tragic that my old main is stuck in that cesspool.
2004 has been great so far and I look forward to it’s slow progress into the more nostalgic years of RS2 for me.
im with you on that, i was considering to play OSRS again but after remembering all those plugins and color boxes, all the new meh content focused only on endgame players with max gear and wtvr, i rather mine 1Billion rune essense on 2004scape while i wait for more content
I tried to log in to OSRS and just thought wtf is this brainrot
It is definitely kind of crazy looking at OSRS again after playing 2004scape! I love what OSRS is now but it’s so far removed from what the game used to be, and 2004scape’s been a breath of fresh air for me. Haven’t gotten bored yet! Feels really awesome getting a second stab at the things in the game I never got around to doing back when I was a kid.
I’m loving 2004scape!! The grind is real however haha! Loving it though, sense of achievement.
Only thing I would say is the drop rates are pretty poor!! Been at hill giants nearly 2 days and only collected 53 limps….
Not sure how people are selling 1k of these as it’s took me that long to gather 53 haha!
Belta server though!!
I’d recommend hobgoblins if you’re only after limps, they drop them more frequently and the level 28s at least have less health than giants. Course if you’re also after the prayer XP there’s nothing like giants.
Thanks for the tip mate!
I have to preface this by saying this project only got on my radar very recently but, hard disagree.
Volunteers (present & future), please remain steadfast, meticulous, patient and do not rush anything ever for anyone.
I want this project to be here for an incredibly long time, not just a good time.
i feel the same way. NMZ PROVES IT IS A PRIVATE SERVER VIBES WAYYY MORE THAN ANY OTHER PRIVATE SERVER
@ 0o0
Should dial it back a bit I think. That’s why there has been a f2p OSRS community for as long as it has been possible. F2P ironman/uim/etc achievements are still super brutal. I also don’t think that 2004scape poses any challenges not massively exceeded by Rs Classic (especially since the mere existence of a runecrafting skill solves a lot of the inherent economy problems regarding item shortages).
I respect the focus on quality and long-term sustainability. That said, I’ve been playing a lot and recently finished Legends’ Quest. At this point, there’s not much left besides grinding for highscores, rares, or just showing off.
The server’s population has really dropped too—down to around 500 players, compared to 2000 back when members first dropped. I’m not saying updates should be rushed, but some more momentum would go a long way in keeping things engaging for active players. It feels like we’re hitting a bit of a content drought.
yeah i echo this, maybe a timeline of planned release stuff ( i think there was one a while back, not see for a while though).
Gives active players things to aim for and get stats for , bosses etc.
Im happy enough, although id prefer 2000 players playing rather than 500.
If there were 2,000 players instead of 500, we would have 4x more players saying the game is dead because it doesn’t have 8,000 players online
duno how you can go back to osrs it doesnt feel crispy
btw 500 is a lot of player if the game was dead itd have like less than 20 players
Ya my thoughts too, game doesn’t feel dead & the pace feels good. I’ve been at it for a bit and don’t really feel any burn out. Only wish is I found it sooner
I was pumping a DWH pure on OSRS when I discovered LostCity, and had a distaste overall for the bh meta as well as a compilation of other issues. Haven’t touched it since
Been playing osrs since release and since lost city alpha I just can’t play osrs anymore the fun and runescape feel is just gone for me in osrs
