So I started playing RuneScape in November 2004, when I was 11. A friend from school recommended it to me.

So I was very excited when I found myself on Tutorial Island in this Lost City game. No Slayer, no Farming; it was just as it was when I started playing. Unfortunately back then my parents had dial-up internet and it took the game an extremely long time to load, and my connection was lost while playing at least every 5 minutes. So because of that, after only reaching 4 combat and mingling with players in Lumbridge for a few days, I stopped playing until December 2005 which is when my parents got SBC global internet.

So the 2005 Christmas event is what I remember most - the imps in Varrock, the jester hats, wooly scarves, and the original skill table graphic which displayed your combat level and quest points, until that was changed when Construction came out in 2006. Early 2006 is when I really fell in love with the game. I was in 7th grade and sat at the “Runescape Table” (a.k.a. The Lord of the Rings Table) at lunch at school, where at least 4 or 5 of us all talked about Runescape and then played after school.

I learned everything about the game, the rare items, and just remember seeing a lot of people playing. The game was becoming very popular and I was meeting more and more people at school who played. I wanted full rune and 1M gp more than I wanted a girlfriend or real money. Because my language arts teacher thought I was such a good writer, she even suggested I write an article that she would submit to be in the town’s newspaper. So I wrote about Runescape, and it got in the newspaper.

So I played from Dec 2005 - Feb 2010 and got to 100 combat, my highest skill being 92 fishing. I was disappointed because by then the game had changed so much since I began playing, especially the graphics and the newer items which came out. In early 2006, I dreamed of getting dragon/barrows armor, a legends cape, an abby whip and full ghostly, but by the time I finally got those things, the graphics made them look different and there were newer items that were better and more valuable.

This 2004scape is so much what I’d rather be playing, so I’m making this my new focus and leaving OSRS behind for a while. What will make this game worth playing is that the skills only go up to Runecraft, there’s no grand exchange, and no gravestones for when you die. As I was growing up playing during 2006-2008 my major complaint was that Jagex was making the game for babies, I mean they just kept making it easier and easier and safer and safer. It wasn’t the game I fell in love with. I’m a mighty preservationist-type, I mean in OSRS I refuse to wear any gear that existed post 2005.

So I’m here to build the account I’ve wanted since I began playing! Until I get a job, I suppose… I just happen to have lots of time on my hands right now.
