You’re starting to catch on to how difficult the research process can be. Yes, there’s no guarantee that video is from the exact date claimed, but it’s from 2004 and it’s the best we have to go on! It’s also only a single datapoint of multiple.
This player is hit by a hop timer that’s at least 30 seconds long. The video is sped up (and speeds up even more after he logs out) but he spends about 15 seconds choosing a world and logging back in. Hence the 45 second figure.
It’s no secret that some of the decisions are based on guesswork. The entire server is guesswork to some extent. A significant portion of RuneScape 2 is lost media - we are doing the best we possibly can to be authentic! Again, this is part of what beta is for.
Oh, this just keeps getting better. First, your so-called ‘authentic team’ relies on a YouTube video from 2011, and now, the second video? Posted in 2008. And yet, it’s the same weak, laughable excuse for evidence. You’re waving the authenticity card like it means something, while simultaneously playing a game of pure guesswork about the game in the same forum post. That’s not just contradictory—that’s straight-up lying through your teeth. But sure, I also believe that the team is just ‘getting ahead’ of the usual nonsense complaints from wayback (between 2004-2007).
Do you have sources that directly contradict the conclusions the team has drawn? If so you are welcome to share them - anything you can find that’s “more authentic” is always appreciated. If you can find a source that shows players logging in/out quickly without a timer I am sure the change would be reverted posthaste.
For now, we know there was a hop timer in 2004 and we know it was 45 seconds in early 2008.
Yes, authenticity is partially guesswork. Again the game is lost media so there’s plenty that must be extrapolated from what little data still exists.
One thing’s for sure, players were not playing hopscape in 2004 so you won’t be doing it here
You’re referring to the first video? The audio is replaced with music there, no way to know what the login screen sounds like. Again if you have better evidence you are welcome to share it.
