I did a quick skim of the hiscores after reading an article by Duke Freedom how he calculated the total GP in the game in 2006.
With the hiscores I got a rough grab of how much XP has been gained by the top 100-500 or so players in the money-generating skills. I took this total XP to figure out how much GP would be generated.
Very interesting! Have you tried to factor in gp out of the game also? I think the only real gp sink right now is shops. Big ones would be runes, arrows, arrowheads, feathers, rune armor, dragon items, battlestaves.
Also every hard clue is maybe close to 100k in alchs (?), so if there’s been 10k hard clues done that’s 1b right there, meaning if the 2.5k active players each have done at least 4 (which doesn’t seem outlandish to me)
Pazaz told us how many robins and rangers there were in the game recently. I’m on my phone at work but it was around 120 robins 110 rangers iirc. From that we could estimate pretty accurately how much gp worth of alchables have been brought into the game by clues.
Current top five ranges from around 300M to about 150M.
Most of those have one or more discontinued items too! Got a few high rollers out there, but it pales in comparison to the billions of gp spread out among all the rest of the players.
Remember these cash stacks can sometimes change hands in seconds and there’s typically more coming in than going out at any given time!
I know. I was just having a little fun trying to figure out “hey at 70 fletching onward all that XP for every player was likely yews/magics. those go for this amount when alch’d”. And doing that for every other skill/xp I could think of.
There’s no way to get even close. But you can get minimums out of the way
