Interesting. Obviously there’s France but you could also get a Boston or Nova Scotia server. It’s transatlanatic but they have direct fiber lines to France and England so depending on how close you are to the west coast, you can get better ping than to Finland. Then these have the added benefit of improving pings for some NAers. I’m only bringing this up so you can consider your options in regards to prices. Obviously France is the more ideal location for EU alternatives.
Out of curiosity I wondered what the server list would look if we moved W4 down:
I have enough resources on that host for a second members world, and it wouldn’t require any additional budget right now. We could do this while we get input if/where we’re lacking.
If I do, perhaps I’ll deploy my mobile changes to it as a beta test…
Nix a f2p world for another eu server
There cant be more than 10 f2p only players.
As a European who has played 200h combined on 2001Scape and RSCP (2003scape), which only has 1 server set somewhere in the USA, I don’t really care.
If 2 worlds per host is not coming back, can we have the numbers in the URL be next to each other again? Changing the number in the URL to hop servers is awkward. My thought process every time: no even numbers, skip 5 russia is gone, skip 7 because good riddance India, next hop is 9
Where has the German server gone from the alpha/beta days? I also agree that f2p should only need 1 US world.
Yeah we don’t have a need for 15 (let alone more) worlds so they won’t be doubled up any time soon.
I can reassign worlds IDs in a future update, sure.
The German world from back then was replaced with a better price offering from Finland
A Republic of Ireland or South American server would be noice
Plz pazaz if you are watching rn, we need at least 9-10 worlds for efficient runite mining. I need to feed my family.
certainly if you go get more players to necessitate the extra space for everything else!
Trying to force my GF to play more..
Hey Pazaz!
I’m one of the Australian players and my connection here has been really stable overall. I understand if keeping a server in Australia is difficult given the cost and reliability issues, but it does make a huge difference for us in Oceania. If it came down to losing it, I’d honestly be happy to chip in to help keep an Australian hub online.
No threat of it leaving - I’m happy to offer it!
I have friends there and I understand the woes when other games and websites make them hop across an ocean or multiple continents.
The only issues as of late have been login server issues (processing and confirming logouts), with players occasionally getting stuck logged in. Not sure what’s causing it on just world 9 right now but I have some ideas to help before having to try another datacenter/provider there.
Thank you for keeping world 9 alive!
-Poland or west Russia
-anywhere in south america
-North Korea
Interesting that it’s only happening in W9. Happened to me again last night. It’s no drama, but obviously would reduce the impact on support staff if it didn’t happen
German or durch worlds for middle europe.
Would be awesome to have a UK world, because RS is a game made by English guys.
I believe there may be some issues associated with the UK’s draconian legislature (and their stance on online safety) that makes hosting services there either problematic or morally objectionable; though, I may be wrong and there may be some other reasons as to why we don’t have a UK-based world.
Less is more we don’t need so many worlds. It makes the game feel empty when theres only 20 people in a world versus 100 competition makes the game fun imo and it takes less resources to keep up with it
