Since there’s been a lot of conversations stirring up lately about the rules and whatnot, I’m curious about an angle wherein someone posts something “out of line” on the forums, and to what extent that would affect their in-game account. It didn’t seem clear from the FAQ on whether or not the rules apply here such that the account banned in the forums results in game ban, too.
Given that the forum has its own set of rules, I think it’s implied that your forum account is distinct from your in-game account. Besides, the forum account is registered separately. Unless you reveal your IGN, there’s not really any association on paper. The mod team could investigate based on IP address or whatever but they probably wouldn’t do that except in an extreme case.
FAFO is a good metric to keep in mind! But unless there are egregious extenuating circumstances, you will not be punished in-game for offences committed on the forum. They are separate accounts on separate platforms as far as we’re concerned.

You may be unsurprised to consider that disruptive rule-breakers on the Forums are often also breaking rules in-game, and vice-versa.
We may well investigate a player’s in-game account based on a suspicious or suggestive post they might make here, but being banned from posting on the Forums doesn’t automatically carry with it a punishment in-game.
I’ll also let you know that a user’s Forums account here isn’t expressly tied to their in-game account.
