Passwords are not censored if typed in game

I went to a disclosed zone with no one there and attempted it earlier. Is this a part of “authenticity of 2004scape?” If so, I’d suggest AT LEAST applying one exception here for that.

What are you talking about? How would the chat filter know you are typing your password? The passwords are hashed. The server does not know what your password is. It only knows how to hash it and check if it’s correct when logging in.

Don’t type your password into the chat and it won’t be a problem…

Pretty confident that in OSRS / Runescape if you type your password it is always censored. If I’m wrong then disregard, no big deal.

This came out MANY years after 2004. It was a well known scam to say “Hey check this out Jagex censors your password! ********” to hack peoples accounts so Jagex eventually did something about it. But it I’m thinking it was around 2010 or something.

I’d probably advise against typing your password anywhere other than logging in anyway lol

The RS wiki says password censoring was only added in 2007, although the source article doesn’t say anything about it: Password Security - News - RuneScape - RuneScape
