Just wondering what constitues an ‘action’, in regards to post about rares

I would guess that any action that grants XP would count. What I’m curious about is if the chances are the same for all actions. Are you better off doing something like fletching with high actions per minute, or is each action tuned with a different drop rate so that everything stays roughly equal across actions?

It must be something that’s checking if you’re engaging in actions every few minutes or something, otherwise probably next to impossible to balance across all different types of skilling

If they wanted things to be fair across the board I think they would have taken a different approach to rares.

IIRC there are actions in the code that contribute towards rolling a random event. So basically any xp drop is probably an action like most people think.

This is a pretty universally fair approach tbh. As far as actions go maybe it will be the same like random events, that seems like the most fair, anything that could trigger a random could trigger a rare item. Sometimes you could just be standing there doing nothing and get a random event, I feel like that would be more fair than tick dependent spawns.

I’m also hoping that this won’t be all about sweaty tick manipulation.

Still glad to see Rares are coming though.

Oooh hadn’t thought about them being like a random, that’d be cool. Better yet, make Diango appear and hand 'em out haha! Maybe he even pulls a cracker with the player but it’s a guaranteed rare. That’d get people so hyped, seeing it happen live, he could even say like “Wow a Halloween mask! Scary!” when it pops.
