This is the story of Godric’s WHITE… P a p e r h a t.
- AUGUST 10, 2025 -
A lowly pleb is whacking maple trees (the one right in front of Seers’ Bank).
All of a sudden.
HE CAME.
The magical man in red CAME!! Santa Pazaz.
I was now a part of the ELITES. Not the giga sand casino scammer type of elites… just the nerd click click elites.
I was giddy with excitement. I couldn’t contain my utter joy. This was trooly amoozing.
I then logged out because I figured I would never get another rare roll that weekend and I was not yet in sweaty try-hard mode yet (like presently).
- WEEKS PRIOR -
Lord Pazaz has announced that rares will be implemented into our favorite preservation project: 2004ChadScape.
As fellow 04Chads prepare for the event, many begin creating their own wishlists.
Some want a full collection, some only want wearables, some actually like pumpkin and Easter Egg (???). Some want to risk it all and sell pulls to win their own hat and become MORE AND MORE RICH!
What was Little Jonny’s wishlist for rares?
- White Paperhat
- Red Halloweiner Mask
- Red Paperhat
As the first few weeks rolled by… no rare
As these precious days off from wage slavery went on, I cared less and less about rolling one of these fabled “rares”
I even posted a thread complaining about how “rare” should rares be?
(Actually still feel the same way for the most part - however - this rollout was the best way to approximate ratios and rarity levels to how it was in 2004 and I also got the one I want)
At last, August 10 arrives and Little Jonny got his wish for Christmas. A rare! Huzzah! But it was not a red partyhat, or a halloweeny mask of redness, nor was it the fabled, coveted white paperhat!
This led to months and months of COMPLAINING to Little Jonny’s friends!
And his friends weren’t wrong.
Why was Little Jonny (me btw) COMPLAINING SO MUCH?!!?
So [redacteding] entitled. Such a little [redacted].
Entitlement aside - 2004Scape is my favorite version of RuneBoy. I will make a post about this in the future, what 2004Scape means to me. But for the purpose of this thread just know that across all versions of RuneScape - this one is my jam.
But then. There was the torment.
- First Failed Attempt at the Coveted Paperhat -
The 2004Scape Rare Event was still relatively new. About 1 month had passed and at this time Santa Hats were still a rare (lmfao get it?) commodity. This was pre-Hide-N’-Seek events and there still were not that many in the game.
Also - Santa Hat is, for whatever reason, iconic to the idea of RuneScape Rare Items. Personally I think the partyhats overall are more “iconic” but certainly many remember the beloved Santa Hat (I suppose many have said it’s the cutest so ok)
Based on the Lost City Poll, Santa Hats are the #1 most popular rare (I don’t get it but hey whatever floats your goat).
With this knowledge in mind, I figured I’d at least start trying to trade or deal my Santa Hat to get a White Yummerhat.
S8 had a precious white paperhat. I wanted it.
At this time I was negotiating to sell my Santa for at least 70M
This was tempting. I wasn’t sure. Are Santas going to be more rare in the future? (RIP)
There’s only one type of Santa vs. 6 different partyhats! Maybe I should hold!
I can’t remember if S8’s offer was for only cash or would have been items + cash, I was still new to the rare market as most were.
Little did I know… someday…
Alas, this one was not meant to be.
I remained with the Santa Hat for that time. I was still grateful to have at least rolled a rare, and a very good one at that. I know how lucky I was and I felt bad for those who hadn’t rolled yet.
But I was still complaining that I did not have a white partyhat lol.
- The Red Partyhat Upgrade -
The b*tching and moaning continued.
My unhealthy fixation and obsession over the White Paperhat continued and it tormented me and wore my mental state down.
Every evening… come home from work… trying to click on things to make more virtual currency within an early 2000s medieval video game.
Random strangers from the internet would privately message me - PESTER ME - about negotiations for my Santa Hat.
This is NOT what I played 2004Scape for. I don’t care for bartering, or scamming, or merching. I just want to click. Click click click. Clicketty clicketty click click click clock clork.
The holy click. God do I love… click.
But when these forces of evil… would MESSAGE ME PRIVATELY!
IT WORE DOWN ON MY MENTAL STATE! I COULDN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE.
I CANNOT JUST FOCUS ON SLAMMING ROCKS AND WATCHING TV WITH MY IRL FAM.
I AM DISTRACTED BY DEMONIC SPIRITS TRYING TO NEGOTIATE ON A PIXILATED SANTA HAT SO I CAN GET A PIXILATED PAPERHAT THAT I SO DESIRE!
THEN. THE ULTIMATE INSULT TO MY AMBITIONS AND CONQUEST.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LORD PAZAZ WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME???
WHY CAN’T I HAVE THAT PRECIOUS PAPERHAT OF WHITENESS! WHYYYYYYYYYYYY
Then…
Silence.
Leaves rustling.
Birds chirping.
Gamers [redacteding].
I looked up, upon the hill.
Cloaked in shining light… a silhouette of a chad appeared.

He who I thought was my enemy, was sent down by Lord Pazaz to guide me on this perilous quest.
1 CORINTH 13 - MY NEW BEST FRIEND =D
Not just any friend. He was the Sam to my Frodo in the Harry Potter movies.
Corinth reached out to Little Jonny… he said:
“I am a really cool chill chad and I’m going to help you strategize how to get you a cool white paperhat buddy.”
Little Jonny… was comforted. For a time.
Corinth, just like that karate master guy from Karate Kid taught me the ways of negotiating and planning for partyhat deals (no waxing off involved).
He helped me get into the head of an arrogant, self-righteous partyhat seller.
What do they really want?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
And so now I refocused my gaze on the grind. The grind for money.
At this time, green lizards were still some of the best money in the game. Probably still are to an extent. And also at this moment, the Legendary Pakas of the Dothroki was becoming the first chad to reach 126 Combat. The dragon bone market never looked better.
I did participate in the golden age of Paska Corp. but I continued my personal stat goals as well.
It became clear with time, that upgrading from a Hallloween Mask or a Santa Hat TO a Paperhat was becoming more and more difficult.
Cash was king.
The hopes of ridding myself of this silly red man hat dwindled and dwindled. I would need an infusion of maybe 20 - 40M cash to enter the paperhat market.
But that’s EXACTLY what I did.
SEPTEMBER 14, 2025 - RED HAT OF PAPER
There was paperhat seller.
I was able to liquidate about 15M quickly, and Corinth loaned me 4.4M - allowing me to seal the [redacteding] deal mother[redacteders].
HUGE credit as well to Tony (IGN: Card Shark) a Lost Citizens chad who helped me weigh my options at this point. Tony was a huge help this night.
This was exciting. Having that juicy red plump paperhat on my polygonal chad’s head was like NOTHING I ever experienced before. It was even better than [redacted]!
For now I felt secure. I felt I entered the partyhat market AT LAST and my chances of obtaining a white yummerhat were within reach - and for now - I could at least breath.

They say friendship involves having friends.
I disagree.
Little Jonny was now quite happy. No more Cringle Hat - AT LAST!
Still complaining though of course (Pazaz please dear God fix my sock color to black in Rev. 225…)
What does every King do when they come into power (at least the ones who are REAL men).
They get comfortable.
They put their feet up.
They go back to prioritising XP or GP and enjoying the game.
Then my Chief of Staff of Rares - Corinth gave me a wake up call.
1 Corinth 13: Why are you buying all this dumb stuff on marketplace? You’ll never get a white hatpaper doing this dumb stuff. You need to be making at least 50M per day.
This put a pit in my stomach.
I knew he was right.
I knew that I was being an IDIOT buying OTHER IDIOTS’ STUPID STUFF ON THE MARKETPLACE.
Then… it happened AGAIN.
First 1 Corinth 13… now Troo…

I WAS REACHING A BREAKING POINT. WHY PAZAZ. WHY ME?
Then… once again… a voice cried out in the distance…

A wise man once said… “In the end the real rares were the friends we madea long the way…”

But yes. Little Jonny made piece with the newest member of the White Partyhat Cabal. He received support, affection, dare I say - love? (jk bro)
I refocused my focus onto that sacred, white paperhat.
Now was the time. IT HAD TO HAPPEN. THEY CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS.
IF ONE MORE WHITE PARTYHATDEAL WENT DOWN AND I WAS NOT INVOLVED - MY APARTMENET WAS GOING TO LOOK LIKE THIS:

It was now my time.
Little Jonny was GOING to enter the White Partyhat Cabal.
At the time - it was only 7 White partyhats.
I login to 2004Scape one day, after a long, boring day in the office.
1 Corinth 13 says to me, “Leng just got a white partyhat from a pull.”
Godric: Hey can I buy your white partyhat?
Leng: Yeah sure
THE DEAL WAS SEALED
Almost.
Extremely long story short - I needed to sell the red partyhat for cash to afford Leng’s white partyhat.
Proverbs 3 5 just bought one for 120M cash (hindsight may have been better for both of us if he let me buy this one and he kept his cash for his future blue)
Troo just walloped something like 130M for his.
Leng and I agreed to 140M.
7 White partyhats in the game at that time with no reason to believe there’d be many more coming in (given the amount of unopened crackers remaining).
It was just RNG at this point.
To actually make this happened I needed to coordinate a Double Partyhat Deal.
I needed to sell my red for cash, and combine it with my current cash to at least give Leng a 100M cash downpayment.
Thank you very much Leng for agreeing to this and giving me a break with the downpayment and IOU.
We agreed to a 40M IOU, but it had to be done in at least 21 days (at 2M/per day average this could accomodate for my very busy real life). As Tanner can corroborate, when the Red Partyhat deal went down I had my hands full baby sitting my toddler niece lol.
So it happened.
Lunatuna reached out with 75M cash downpayment and agreed to a 5M IOU for his 80M total red partyhat. Tanner held that hat for him until he paid the 5M and then I quickly liquidated what I could, took a couple small friend loans to present Leng with a fat 100M cash stack.
Leng handed his white partyhat to Tanner and then the grind was on.
There was actually an annoying noob there named Little Johnny trying to grief the deal.
But at least NOW there was an end insight.
No more annoying pms and negotiations when I’m trying to wind down after a boring slow day in the office. I could simply click rocks while watching tv with my IRL girl.
FINALLY. RELIEF.
Some were skeptical. 40M in 21 days? Even my Chief of Staff of Rares wasn’t so sure.
Well yes - difficult without certain high level methods at your disposal.
At this point, my unhealthy obsession with the coveted white paperhat had become a meme through the community, and I was here for it. I thought it was funny as well. For weeks I had a buy offer on the marketplace for max cash stack.
But now, a deal was made and I just needed to deliver. And it wasn’t easy.

I created a Discord DM Group for the White Partyhat Deal (also a different one for the Red Partyhat Deal).
Just to help keep track of payments with screenshots and clips.
I buckled down and planned out how the hell I was going to pull it off. I created a spreadsheet calendar with realistic time estimates based on what specific date it was within the 21 day time period.
This calendar was pretty close. Initially I slightly overestimated the pace I could make the 40M (primarily mining gold ore and selling at 1K each or higher). I got lucky selling some stacks for 1.25K each, some at 1.1K each). I was able to sell a Zamorak Platebody I got from a clue before this deal was set.
Eventually by the end, I implemented some other super secret methods that crushed the 21 days to only 15 DAYS.
Could have been even faster than that but alas - gold ore was decent xp and gp so that’s what I went with.
Sadly the iron ore market was also wrecked at this time… with some people buying iron ore for UNDER 200 EACH.
OK - so, PAYMENT TIME. I detailed each payment of the 40M right here chads.
The day of glory had arrived.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2025
After 2+ months of UNHEALTHY FIXATION.
I HAD OBTAINED.
THE WHITE.
PAPERHAT!!!
Thankfully it was not alched or trust traded to Paska that night.
15 grueling days of ignoring my loved ones, clicking gold rocks on mobile at work (AIDS), and constantly staring at a screen to pay off Leng’s 40M IOU - FINISHED.
Now you must be wondering - what now Godric? Little JONNY? You got your little white hat? What now? You going to burnout out Little Jonny??? (I see you Jiklim).
Now, if you are reading this and still have not gotten a paperhat or for that matter any rare. Just know, I cancelled IRL appointments, family gatherings, get togethers to pull this off. I have hoped for a 2004 version of RuneScape to come back some day, and now that it has, there is a once in a life rare event going on? Yeah - everything else can wait.
The hardest part at times was selling the items, not grinding them.
Also - avoiding obligations and other IRL time commitments lol.
When it came to this event, they said “just play the game and have fun.”
RuneScape players are NOT known for just playing and having fun.
Yes - it’s great when you can do that with this game - however - anyone playing a 21-year-old version of the clickiest, grindiest game, is not just playing to have fun lol.
I was tremendously lucky to roll a Santa in August - 100%.
I was extremely lucky to upgrade from my Santa to a Red Partyhat literally 1 week before the first Santa Hat Spammening Even - 100000%.
I was lucky to negotiate with Leng at the right time for him to be willing for me to pay a 40M IOU. During the IOU another White Partyhat sold for 160M (or maybe 165M). But I retroactively purchased, I think the 7th White Partyhat in the game - I think.
I am sorry if you’re jealous of my deal with Leng but it was legit meant to be.
I was lucky to make friends with Corinth who listened to me complain and whine every single night in PMs how unfair it felt that partyhats were perpetually 20M out of reach from my current bank value.
At a certain point I would have stayed content with the red partyhat, it’s still my third favorite rare.
But going way above and beyond and breathing this game for all that time helped me get this beautiful, white, pixilated, paperhat. Lol.
For those who have not rolled a rare yet - I really hope you do soon, and for those who want to enter the partyhat market, best of luck to you. I wish they did not have to be this insanely rare. Even if it meant the value of mine going down - I really really know how you feel and I wish they were not this rare.
