With the exciting news that tradeable holiday rares will be obtainable over the next 4 months (on weekends), this thread will serve as an effort to track the number of rares and analyze how they’re obtained.
Please keep in mind some people don’t post their rares so my weekend counts will be off. Mods have been known to post accurate counts occasionally, check back for updated/accurate counts.

What We’ve Learned

Rares can be obtained by simply playing the game (that phrase rings a bell), all you have to do is be logged in. Multiple people have reported getting their rare while just standing there, afk, which means you don’t have to skill non-stop. Do the clues, the quests, chill at the bank with your friends in a never-ending dance.

Rares can be obtained playing the game in any manner, including mobile.

While there apparently is a total level or playtime requirement, they can be obtained with as low as 190 total level (that’s the lowest reported so far)!

You can get more than one rare, it’s up to the rng gods :). You have the same chance for your second as your first.

The rare will drop to the ground (and you’ll have a little time before the public sees it as normal) if you get a rare with a full inventory.

Partyhats are no longer spawning and instead christmas crackers are. You and the person you pull with both have a 50% chance of getting the partyhat (one of you will get one). Selling cracker pulls is allowed (confirmed by Pazaz below);
As long as you aren’t having people bet on the outcome you can, but be aware if the 50/50 winner keeps the hat that deal is great for the other side and worse for you. Unless you’re selling the pull for 100% valuation you lose your rare and have less gp, if you care about that. If it’s for content then go for it!
