My friend has a Robin hood hat, which I wanted to wear for training, and I intend to return it. Is that something that we can do, or would we get banned?

You should be fine but be careful. Robin has a low high alch value. If you die it’ll likely drop.
you will probably be monitored extremely closely, idk anyone who would trust someone to “borrow” something that valuable.
Your friend broke the golden rule, don’t trust people on Runescape.
I lent my girlfriend about 300K so she could help me buy runes from shops when the servers first turned on after an update. I also let her try on my pirate’s hat. Nothing happened to us so far.
