Alpha 2.0 progress

Day One

31st Dec 2024

Started a day late, but better late than never! Ran tutorial island and saw some friendly faces along the way.

After making it safely to the mainland (wind striking chickens proved difficult for my poor character) I ran the Restless Ghost and Rune Mysteries quests together with another player named Monk.

After questing, I retired briefly to Draynor to train woodcutting:

And fishing:

I heard Pazaz Claus was handing out santa hats and christmas crackers for the new year in Varrock square, so I trekked northeast:

From Varrock, I headed north into the Wilderness with C (clint) and we nabbed some steel platelegs for starting cash. We did not have too much food and the spiders kept tagging us while world hopping so we did not stay long. No screenshots of this, but I made about 3,000 gp which should supply me for a decent period of time provided I am frugal with it.

Day Two

1st Jan 2025, happy new year!

I decided I wanted to stockpile runes to train magic. Runecrafting sounded boring so I thought I would try my hand at killing dark wizards for their drops instead.

I headed to the Lumbridge cow pen and gathered enough cowhides for a full set of leather armor:

+7 magic defense is less than I hoped for. I’ll have to upgrade to hardleather/studded leather sometime soon, but this should do for now.

After tanning and crafting my armor I was conveniently located next to the small net fishing spots in Al Kharid so I trained fishing to 30 and cooking to 25. I had to dodge an aggressive scorpion a few times:

And a river troll once:

Next I gathered some feathers in Lumbridge, made a trip out of my way to Port Sarim for fishing gear, and then returned to Varrock to begin stockpiling salmon:

Loot from the Al Kharid cooking range:

After building up a modest supply of food, I decided it was time to try my luck. I started by killing the level 7 dark wizards in Draynor since I wasn’t sure of any other area that didn’t have level 20 spawns. The level 20 wizards will aggress and very likely kill me quickly.

I trained strength with a mithril scimitar and also trained magic as I obtained the runes to cast spells. Took some risky screenshots:

Initially the wizards would hit me fairly often (50% of the time maybe) since I had level 2 magic, but as I gained magic levels I noticed I was eating much less.

Eventually a zombie random event spawned and I killed it in quite a shameful way as I had no hope of prevailing otherwise. Here is a video of the kill and the surprise reward at the end!

I stopped shortly after this. Loot from roughly one hour of dark wizards:

Plus some gold and a handful of air and mind runes that got spent on magic training.

And I organized my bank a bit so here’s a pic of that:

Quite modest but it’s good enough for now. Still need placeholders for a lot of this stuff…

I made it into a couple of the screenshots :sunglasses:

Day 3

2nd Jan 2025

I got tired of being poor (and wasting air runes with my non-elemental staff) so I gathered some steel platelegs in the wilderness to bolster my cash stack:

This took most of my evening tbh as I was pretty afk. I’ll put this money to good use soon!

Update 4

10th Jan 2025

Haven’t played a ton lately but jumped on to knock out Vampire Slayer. The state of the quest journal:

Also met a guy on the road between Varrock and Draynor, we stopped to chat but unfortunately our parley took place too close to a highwayman, and, well…

Luckily I was able to grab this fellow’s items and met him in Draynor bank to return them to their rightful owner.

Did some firemaking and logged off for the night. Stats update:

More to come…
